What is ABS?

What is ABS? | JURARON INDUSTRIES HAI PHONG

ABS is a thermoplastic resin composed of three monomers: Acrylonitrile (A), Butadiene (B), and Styrene (S).

Heat resistance: approximately 70–100℃, similar to polyethylene (PE) or polystyrene (PS). Although not considered a high-heat-resistant resin, ABS is sufficient for general-purpose applications.

Impact resistance: Due to the presence of butadiene, ABS has rubber-like elasticity, making it one of the more impact-resistant resins among general-purpose plastics.

Standard injection molding conditions:
Pre-drying: 80–90℃ × 3–5 hours
Resin temperature (Melt temperature): 210–240℃
Mold temperature: 40–80℃

Recently, ABS has also been widely used as a material for 3D printing.
Additionally, it can undergo post-processing such as painting, printing, and plating, making it a resin with wide-ranging industrial applications.
