What is ETFE?

What is ETFE?

ETFE resin is a thermoplastic fluoropolymer. Its main characteristics include excellent chemical resistance, insulation properties, and low friction, while also being easier to mold and more cost-effective compared to other fluoropolymers like PTFE. ETFE is commonly used in OA-related components, particularly in paper feed rollers, where its low friction properties are beneficial.

One disadvantage of ETFE in molding is its corrosiveness. The mold and the injection molding machine’s screw cylinder must be made of highly corrosion-resistant steel. Additionally, the gas emitted during molding is also corrosive, so proper ventilation is necessary. After molding, thorough mold cleaning and maintenance are crucial.
