This is an injection molding case study for a component used in office automation (OA) equipment.
Due to the part’s geometry, which tends to retain heat during molding, a material with high thermal conductivity was selected for the mold core to enhance heat dissipation.
As the part features a U-shaped structure, a two-directional slide mold was adopted. However, this geometry posed a risk of sidewall collapse inward during molding.
To address this, the mold was fine-tuned based on trial results to ensure perpendicularity and positional geometric tolerances, achieving the required dimensional accuracy of the final product.
