This is an injection molding case study for a component used in office automation (OA) equipment.
Due to the part’s geometry, which tends to trap heat during molding, a core material with high thermal conductivity was selected to improve cooling efficiency.
The part has a U-shaped design, so a two-directional slide mold structure was used. However, this geometry raised concerns about inward deformation of the side walls during molding.
To address this, the mold was adjusted based on trial results to ensure perpendicularity and compliance with positional geometric tolerances, thereby achieving the required product accuracy.
