Polypropylene is a thermoplastic resin commonly referred to as PP, and is a polymer composed of carbon (C) and hydrogen (H).
PP has a specific gravity of 0.9, making it the lightest among general-purpose plastics. It also offers excellent chemical resistance, hydrolysis resistance, and electrical properties, and is widely used across various industries due to its broad applicability.

When higher-density resins (specific gravity of 1.0 or above) are mixed into PP resin, a commonly used separation method is water immersion. In this method, resin that floats is identified as PP, while resin that sinks is considered contamination.

Standard molding conditions:

Pre-drying: Not required
Melt temperature: 180–220°C (typical range)
Mold temperature: 30–80°C
