What is ASA?

What is ASA? | JURARON INDUSTRIES HAI PHONG

ASA resin stands for Acrylonitrile–Styrene–Acrylate, and it is an amorphous thermoplastic.

Its basic properties are similar to ABS resin; however, since it does not contain butadiene rubber, it offers superior light resistance.
As in ABS, acrylonitrile improves heat resistance and chemical resistance, while styrene contributes to rigidity and processability. By replacing the rubber component with acrylate, ASA achieves significantly improved weather resistance.

General characteristics of ASA resin are as follows:
ASA suppresses degradation caused by UV radiation and oxidation, allowing it to maintain its properties over long periods.
Therefore, it is suitable for applications requiring high weather resistance, such as automotive exterior parts, roofing materials, outdoor air conditioner covers, and housings for outdoor electrical equipment.
