What is PS?
PS resin (Polystyrene) is one of the five major general-purpose plastics, produced by the polymerization of styrene.
Due to its low cost and excellent processability, it is widely used in applications ranging from food containers to electrical appliance components.
General characteristics of PS resin:
Low cost with excellent cost performance
High transparency and gloss, and easy to color
Excellent moldability with good melt flow into molds
Low shrinkage after molding, providing good dimensional stability
Good electrical insulation properties
Brittle and low impact resistance
Low resistance to heat, oil, chemicals, and weathering
Standard molding conditions:
Pre-drying: Not required
Melt temperature: 180–260°C
Mold temperature: 20–60°C
